About Tossa de Mar

Tossa De Mar is situated on the beautiful Costa Brava.

Tossa is only a 35 minute drive from Gerona International airport, and only one and a half hours from Barcelona.
Originally the residents of Tossa survived largely on the fishing industry, the fish that they caught every morning was then sold in the local market and the people of Tossa Lived for another day!

Tossa de mar retains the majority of it`s original features but also has a contemporary feel to it. All this started in 1951 when Hollywood payed Tossa de mar a visit and Ava Gardener , Nigel Patrick and James Mason stared in the film “Pandora and the flying Dutchman” of course in the film Tossa was known as the small village of "Esperaza" meaning Hope!

Tossa de mar was now on European maps as a tourist destination, and so its with a stitch in time,that Hollywood left its mark!
However, long before, The Romans had already done so, by building the fabulous Villa Vella.
The Castle is in great condition and makes a perfect pass time if you like a walk! At the top of the castle you will find the light house that still guides passing boats safely around the rocks.

The light house is a must see, as there are some fantastic views.
Tossa de mar has Two of the nicest beaches on the Costa Brava
“Platja Gran” and “Mar Menuda”.
Both are blue flag beaches.

As you discover the secrets of Tossa you get a feeling of freedom and tranquillity that is hard to find in a big city.
Walking the narrow streets you will most defiantly find a warm welcome among

The local shop keepers and Bar owners.
There are many interesting and fun things to do on the beach too, you can take a trip on a Glass bottom boat to see the sea life below, even hop on to a Dofijet and go to the next town.

There are Dive centres,Tourist trains,canoes and of course you can jump on the “splash ocean adventures” Power boat ride for a whirlwind of fun! Slower rides in the morning and the full on Mediterranean shower in the afternoon!
